Shields

The Shield gallery is pretty much self-descriptive. Unlike other weaponry and armor, it is rare for us to produce shields on spec. This, I think, is a reflection of the fact that metal shields possess a bit of weight and therefore rarely get "worn" as part of a renfaire costume. Also, those who do want a shield generally have a particular style and decoration in mind. My favorite of these shields has a dragon-carved brass facing on the boss (it has a dragon carved on it rather than being carved by a dragon). Jamie raised the shield from 12 gauge steel sheet, Peter shaped the brass facing, and Matt did the carving and finish work.
